I had a Terminator II Skimmer on my 155 Gallon SPS Dominated Reef tank for several years and it never really performed to my expectations. I waited 3 years before purchasing this Vertex Skimmer, because I had a difficult time finding a skimmer that could fit underneath my 28" high stand; the guys at Premium recommended the Vertex 180. 24Hrs after setting up the Vertex 180, it had removed in a day what Terminator used to. I used baffles and an auto-top off in my sump in order to maintain a consistent water level (7"). We experience short but frequent power outages in Indy and as a precaution, I always simulate outages. I would recommend minimizing the back flow to your sump, because a significant increase of water in your sump can cause the collection cup to rapidly overfill and of course, this could lead to a flood in your absence. In my case, I simply reduced the back flow to my sump. Despite my word of caution, I would recommend this skimmer to anyone looking to get the most for their money.

One of the best skimmers for the money on the market. This product has a great balance of air and water draw right out of the box. Mine is running in about 7 inches of water and i pulling about 34 scfh. Nice design and is quite. No start up issues like some of the psk2500 have. Another great product from vertex. Thanks Mojo~
