In comparison to my old Amiricle venturi skimmer, this skimmer is TOP OF THE LINE!!!!!! The skimmate that it pulls out is AWSOMELY putrid and foul! My only complaint is setting it up. The rio pump needs to be plugged in and unplugged SEVERAL times to get it going. If it dosent produce A TON of tiny bubbles when you plug it in, then do the above procedure. Since it's been setup, it has been doing a perfect job. It is on a three year old, 100gal reef tank. I am pleased with it.

A good simple skimmer. I also think the rating is a bit high, but on a tank larger than 100 gallons or so, I'd be using a different skimmer anyway. I've had the best results with these skimmers when I ran water through them quite slowly, thus maximizing contact time. My only real gripes are the pitiful instructions, which are almost non-existant, and say to run the return line from the tank directly into the skimmer. I've never seen that work quite right. The little black plastic adjustment caps are useless, also. Much better just to adjust the flow into the skimmer. That said, it's a great skimmer. Hardly any fiddling -- just plug it in and go.

Good skimmer for the money. I used on a 90g with great success. However, I do feel the tank rating is a bit high. I wouldn't consider this skimmer for anything more than 125g. Mostly because the actual flow through the skimmer is a bit low because of the design....
