I bought one of these to replace the rio 3100 that I had put on my TurboFlotor 1000 to supercharge it. Hook up was easy, but the pump made quite a bit of noise until it had run-in for about three days. It has been going non-stop except for a power failure due to an ice storm last winter for about 18 months with no problems whatsoever. Furthermore, after the run-in period of 3 days, it has run silently since then. This is a fantastic improvement over the Rio pumps and their myriad of short-comings!

my rio was leaking a small amout of electricity into the water, which was the main reason for the upgrade. it took a few days to start skimming, but once it did i noticed a marked increase in stink (but not that much more gunk). skimming seems to be a bit more intermittant, it'll skim like heck for a day and then nothing for 2 days, with the rio it had a head of foam 95% of the time. i'm still working on tuning the input flow and playing with injecting air with an airpump but this pump seems to be good stuff, much better than the rio.
