| Flatworm exit
Flatworm exit itself is quite safe to fish and invertebrates. However, the body juice of flatworms can be toxic to some reefinhabitants when present in a too high concentration. This body juice issometimes excreted when flatworms die
So when you use this product it is important to do the following first:1] Siphon out as many flatworms as possible.
2] Keep sufficient fresh activated carbon in a canister ready.3] Turn off UV, ozone and remove activated carbon. Keep the skimmer turned on.
Important remarks Below given remarks are a.o. meant to reduce the amount of theflatworm's toxic body juices in the water.
Many people have treated their reef tank(s) successfully using Flatwormexit without any problems. The most important factors are reducing thenumber of flatworms before commencing with the treatment andreducing the amount of the flatworm's body juice, released when theydie, as fast as possible.
Do not underestimate the number of flatworms in your system. In a fewcases a significant number of flatworms can be hiding in for examplecrevices. Blow in such and any other potential hiding places water toblow any flatworm out of there. For that purpose you can use apowerhead or a turkey baster. Siphon out those flatworms as well.
Furthermore do not underestimate the amount of toxic body-juices theseflatworms can excrete. This can be reduced significantly by reallysiphoning out the flatworms before commencing with the treatment.Further significant reduction is accomplished by siphoning out as manydead flatworms as you can.
Any body juice released by the dead flatworms in the water has to bereduced further by using about 1 pound of fresh high quality carbon forevery 50 gallons. The carbon has to be used in a canister with asufficient forced water flow.
Take sufficient time for treating the tank. That is, do not treat your tank Ina hurry. Also take time to monitor your tank for at least 6 hours after thetreatment.
It is also wise to have at least 25% water ready for a water change ifrequired.
Dosage: Read all the above text before commencing with the treatment!
1 drop for every 4 liters or 1 gallon. The dropper contains approx. 300 drops (10 ml). The droppercap holds approx. 90 drops. So 1 cap full is good for 360 liters or 90 gallons.
Add it in a high flow area of the tank. If you want to treat arefugium only and its volume Is too small for using apowerhead then mixing should be done manually.
It should start to work within 30 minutes.
If within 45 minutes no visible death of flatworms occurs add50% more.
As soon as the flatworms start to die commence with theactivated carbon to take out any toxic body juices. Also seethe above given important remarks. After an hour or so you can turn any UV or ozone on again.
Keep out of the reach of children! Only for aquarium hobby use

5 Wormageddon!
|

Understanding the language difference (Salifert Flatworm eXit is made in Holland), I at least know why they didn't more aptly name this stuff. Better names would be: "Wormageddon", "Flatworm Nuke", "Holy Crap!".... Because holy crap this stuff works. The instructions say it may take up to 30 minutes to take effect... nope. Mere seconds. (I have good water movement, but still, amazingly quick.)
I made the small mistake of thinking I could prep the charcoal canister while the 30 minutes ticked away... nope. First piece of advice: have the charcoal ready to go. Fortunately no harm done. My prize Ritteri anemone wilted a bit (likely from the worm juice toxins), but he sprang right back. Which leads me to piece of advice #2:
They are not kidding when they say there are going to be lots of these critters tucked away unseen in every nook and crevice. I thought I had vaccuumed most of them out before treatment. Nope. Holy crap. The most incredible sight I have ever seen in my tank. Rule of thumb: for every one you see, there are 100 ir 200 hiding!
Every review I have read has said treating with this stuff is quite an amazing spectacle... Yep!
Good stuff... I give it a 6 out of 5.

this stuff works as advertised. i have heard sooooo many stories about people saying that it does not work or that they have to overdose it / dose multiple times. i did not find this to be the case. i followed the directions and it worked great. after the addition of FWE to my tank, i saw flat worms dying in less than a minute !!! in this tank was SPS, LPS,and many softies. none of them ever showed any ill effects and neither did the fish. i guess you just need to read the directions and then follow them...

Used as directed a week ago. The only change in the tank since I've used Flatworm Exit is that there are no flatworms. Woohoo ! Great product.
