| Pan World Pumps Asia Pacific is a member of the Pan World Group, Japan. Pan World is a leading maker of magnetic drive pumps. It produces one of the widest ranges in the world. Also know by Blueline HD pumps in the USA. These pumps were designed and built by the former chief engineer from Iwaki-Japan. They feature similar flow rates and head pressure. They offer low noise, and reliablity that have made Iwaki the best magnetic drive pumps available. The PanWorld pumps are even a little more quiet then Iwaki, they have a full 2 year parts and labor guarantee. All seal-free bearings and magnetic drive for many years of trouble free use. These pumps also include the Powercord, something iwaki leaves off.
We highly recommend these pumps as the best quality option you can get for your tank. Plus you can't beat there price, which is lower then Iwaki. So if you need a good reliable pump that won't over heat your water or run you out of the house due to noise, this is it.

4 Quiet and strong... but...

I've had a few Pan World pumps now. This one is quiet and seems to pump within specs. However, the plastic 3/4" MPT fittings are a bit flimsy and will shear off or crack if your not careful when tightening a female fitting. Even after shearing off and fixing the coupling still leaked. Replacement of the entire faceplate is required and parts seem to be hard to come by. Just be very careful when tightening fittings to these pumps.

5 Wise decision

Needed a replacement for a MAG that was way too noisy and transferred too much heat to the water. There's no comparison as to how much better this pump is than a MAG or Quiet One. Neither of those is as quiet as the Pan World 40PX. Sure, it's more expensive than a MAG or what have you, but it's well worth the extra money. I am very satisfied with my purchase. Contrary to what some other posters have said, my Pan World came with a plug on the cord. All my pumps will be Pan World in the future.

5 Quiet and Reliable

I use this pump to drive my Aqua C EV-180. It packs some punch and has to be throttled down a bit for the EV-180. Very quiet. I just wish the 50PX (which I use as my circ. pump) was as quiet. When you step up to the 50PX, it is appreciably louder.
Overall, a reliable pump with a good build. As noted by another, the only pet peeve is the lack of an AC plug at the end of the cord. Needed to install a plug. In hindsight, however, this was OK, as it allowed me to install a nicer plug.

5 Better than I thought it could be

Just got this pump to replace a Little Giant 3MD-SC for use with a AquaC 180. It is great. Has a nice small size for its "punch". It was quieter than I had expected and was very much appreciated from the fan noise that the Little Giant made. I couldn't be happier. Great little pump!

4 Things I like:
- Quiet.....
|

Things I like: - Quiet... Only pump I've owned that is more quiet is the dolphin ss700 (same thing as the custom sea life t series). Anyone considering those little giant 2md's should save their money and go with this pump. I also have gen-x pcx 30. That is a bigger pump so I would it's really not an "apple to apple" comparison but this pump is definitely more quiet.
Things I don't like: - Apparently the manufacturers market and sell this pump to different regions and therefore are unable to put a plug that would work for all regions. So, they don't put one on. The assumption is that you can go to the hardware store and get a three pronged plug (for us in the U.S.) and wire it yourself. Here is a hint to you pan world guys... put a plug on it. If someone needs a different plug, they can cut it and splice on the appropraite plug. (Presumably you would not sell a 110 v pump in a 220 v region.)
- I didn't get a manual with my genx pcx-30. I found that disappointing. Not only does this pump not come with a manual, it doesn't even come with a box. For the premium I paid, I expect to get what even the cheapest products in K-mart provide - a box and a manual.
Overal, solid 4 stars for pump performance and low noise.
