Part Numbers: rc1, rc2, rc4.5, rc7, rc15, rc25, rc55Description: Removes organic pollutants, stains, andentrained toxic gases in marine and freshwater aquariums or ponds. Containsthe finest pelletized activated bituminous coal based carbon. Pore sizeis in the 20 to 2,000 Angstrom range, ideally suited for removal of largeorganic molecules. Super activated with very high iodine and molasses numbers.Less than .2% ash making it suitable for sensitive species such as discus. Will not leach phosphates or promote undesirable algae growth, suited tosensitive reef systems! Engineered for water flow, will not clog easilylike small granular or pelleted carbons. Out performs any carbon especiallycoconut shell!
Directions: Reef Carbon is dusty. This is a necessarycharacteristic of the finest carbons and is a small price to pay for acarbon that is so active, low in phosphates, and ash, so rinse well incold running tap water. This will take some effort. IN THE AQUARIUM: Placein a polyester bag or filter chamber and position for maximum water flowthrough the carbon. IMPORTANT: You can use as any other carbon, but bestresults will be obtained by using any carbon for only 3 days per monthor so. (This is because any carbon will continue to remove trace elementslong after it is totally plugged with organics.) Use only enough to removethe color from the water.
Considerations for use: Reef Carbon isalso soft (this is due to pore size and makeup) and could release dustinto the system if mechanically stirred too rapidly. Do not place wherewater will drop a large distance directly onto the product or churn itviolently. Because Reef Carbon is so active, you can use considerablyless than with other carbons (about 1/4 lb. or 1 cupful per 100 gallonsof tank capacity, you may need more or less depending on how dirty thetank is). Reef Carbon will have done its job, so dose the tank with KentMarine Essential Elements, Discus Essential, Freshwater Essential, or AF Cichlid Rift Lake Trace Elements as appropriate for your type of systemto restore trace elements removed by any carbon. CAUTION: Recent productsintroduced by other manufacturers that contain strong enzymes may dissolvethe binder that holds Reef Carbon together. If this happensthe carbon can come apart and cause an ugly mess in your tank. Becauseof this, DO NOT USE ENZYME PRODUCTS WITH Reef Carbon! Simply remove thecarbon, use the product, then replace the carbon several days later.
