Magnetic Drive - Quiet - Cool Operation - Long Life Iwaki is one of the most dependable external pump on the market, well know for it's excellent quality. We carry the Japan motors (MD series). They are slightly more then theWMD american models, but pump is a little shorter and they ren cooler. So we feel it's worth the extra money. Some of the larger pumps will need a pig tail added to powercord. Iwaki MD 30RLXT - 960gph at 4 feet head pressure - Japan Note - IWAKI RLT are Pressure Rated pumps designed to pump into pressure canister filters or any situation that can create back pressure. IWAKI XT models are for standard circulation such as return from wet/dry. The pressure models are also suitable for standard return.

I use two of these on a AG75g sps reef, one for the sump return and one for closed loop. The pumps are less noisy then the flow out of my skimmer! My tank is in the living room and they are not objectionalby loud. They are not silent though, maybe a little quieter then a frig in the kitchen. The motors do run hot to the touch. Warning, the flow from one of these pumps will overcome the stock AG reef ready return, so I use both the 1" and 3/4" holes in the overflow for drains to the sump.

Excellant choice! This pump is quite. Iwaki pumps have been used in medical lab applications for years because of high dependability. Mean time between failures is over 7 years. If you want a pump that will last, this is it. I am using this pump with a seaswirl 1" on a 125 tank without other wavemaker devices. Makes for a quite tank that coral will will love.
