First the heat transfer is BS. This pump raised my temp in my 30g by 4 degrees. The outlet is at an angle instead of straight up for some unexplained reason, and the front plastic housing is very cheap and thin. One twist too tight and you will be ordering a new one. They strip out very easy. You can order a new housing for $10, but the shipping and handling charges it cost me $27. The new housing stripped out on the first try lol. You also have to wrap the inlet and outlet with a ton of plumbing tape or you will have a micro bubble issue like you won't believe. The noise level is so so. Not quiet but not as noisy as some i guess.
I just finally gave up and ordered a Panworld pump, so in reality i am in this pump nearly $300 now and it is in the junk pile for a backup lol.
I would never buy another one.

2 Gen-X bordering on false advertising

"No noise"? You have got to be kidding me. It sounds like a jet engine starting up. If you want a silent pump, check out the Velocity pumps. Although the Velocities do run a bit hot, I have to beg to differ on low heat transfer of the Gen-X pump as well. In a 30g tank, with this pump as the only heat producing device raised my tank temperature by 4 degrees. Lastly, make sure you use a lot of teflon tape on the intlet and outlet. The fittings are very loose, and you will get leaks with Sch 40 PVC attachments if you don't. On the plus side, the water pressure does appear to be as advertised.

3 Mine is too loud...

I am not sure if mine is defective or not but mine is far from silent. This thing sounds like I have a SPA in my living room. I have emailed the guys here to see if mine needs to be replaced or not.
The other thing is the ouput is not at 90 degrees! Its not even at 45 degrees which could easily be fixed using a 45 pvc adapter. This thing is at like 30 degrees. To fix it you have to either tilt the pump on its side or you need to use 2x 45 fittings on top of each other and swivel them until the top one sits at 90. What a PITA! Plumbing this thing was a nightmare because of this. That just makes no sense why they did that.
I will note that this thing does however move a whole bunch of water. In my 75 it is blowing substrate around if I aim the nozzle down at all(I need to add atleast 1 to 2 more nozzles to stop that).
So unless your pump happens to be quieter than mine I would not recommend this one. Hopeufully its a bum pump but I dont think I am going to take my chances with another one.

4 I really like this pump. ...

I really like this pump. However, I personally like to read reviews, not to find out what other people like about a product but to find out what people don't like about the a product. So don't let the list of things I don't like mislead you into thinking that this is not a good product.
Here goes: - Doesn't come with a manual. Mine had what seemed like oil in the "wet end". After some inquiry, it turns out that it was vegetabla oil. It would be nice if the owner was informed of that with a simple note and told whether it is recommended to clean the wet end or use as is.
- Output nozzle doesn't point straight up. If someone can explain the rationale behind that, I would be grateful.
- The adds say no noise. I would say that is is quiet compared to some of the little giant fans that I've used in the past but if you think this fan has no noise, you are in desparate need of a hearing aid. I think the noise is mainly the humming of the fan.
- The wet end cover (the white plastic piece on the end of the pump) seems kind of flimsy. I was able to plumb it without any leaks but it still seemed like thin, cheap plastic.
