This is one loud pump.I have owned many pumps and this one is by far a bad choice. I have owned mag pumps that are much quieter than this Eheim. All I can say good about the pump is it pumps water.

Well, this model used to be the 1060 model and i have one going on 13 years running non stop. This is the ultimate pump, if you can afford it, go for it. It actually has 3/4" standard pvc threads in/out so you can plumb it externally. Do not over tighten the fittings or you'll crack the pump and it will leak when used externally. The strainer is of very good design, easy to take off and clean. The inside of the pump is very easy to service. I have 3 other 1262 models i got 3 years ago, they are running super strong and very quietly.

Runs very quite puts out little heat as far as I can tell. My Euro Reef Protein skimmers pump is much louder than this pump and does much less GPH.
