this filter was kind of tricky to set up as the directions didnt suggest using a checkvalve of shut offs in strategic locations. I highly recomend using a sump with 2x the capacity of the filter itself. for the first time user its a bit tricky to set up but once you take your time and plan things out it works like a charm i have one set up on my 265 tank and it rocks
