5 Works great 08/28/2009 - by Brad Lockwood from Normal, IL US
Make sure your water is "***All Skimmers perform best in 8" to 10" of water***" and it will work great. Inconsisitant water height will cause all kinds of problems so make sure it does not vary. After that set it and forget it. I have mine draining into a container and I can let it go for 2 weeks if necessary and it is still skimming nasty stuff.
5 Excellent 07/25/2009 - by Pbchef from West Palm Beach, FL US
I was unhappy with my Aquac EV-120 skimmer (very inconsistent). - So I replaced it with this skimmer. I have limited space in my sump/fuge so my choices were also limited. The Octopus extreme 160 has consistently pulled a good amount of skimmate out of my 110 tank easily outperforming the AquaC. I am extremely satisfied with this skimmer after the first 6 weeks. I also like the design, very easy to remove the cup for cleaning.
5 replay to garbage post 05/09/2009 - by Elizabeth Saunders from Courtice, Ontario CA
Octopus is an excellent skimmer!

In reply to Caleb's review - it seems what he is describing is a water height problem/adjustment issue not a skimmer problem. Adjust your water before you write a review titled "garbage". All skimmer need to find their sweet spot and it rely's totally on the water height. Caleb's water height appears to be set too high for this skimmer so hopefully he has adjusted that and is now having excellent results! Maybe he will do another review??
1 Garbage 04/26/2009 - by Caleb from Fenton, MO US
I bought this skimmer two months ago, based on decent reviews, and have just now set it up. It doesn't work as intended. The foam output is great but it knocks the top off of the cup and overflows everywhere on top of that, the micro bubbles from the output fills the sump and main display. Horrible skimmer. I will be contacting Coralvue and PA to see what can be done about this purchase. I should have gone with the ASM G-Series. This looked like it would be a good product but does not operate like a decent skimmer. Buyer beware.
