While her book is by now quite dated, it’s still the one book to buy first when you are learning for your first saltwater aquarium. Do not be thrown off by the fact that this book is about propagating clownfish. While you may not want to propagate clownfish you will certainly learn the necessary know-how to keep them alive and afford your animals a very good life. Best of all her book will take you right into the farming of food species that everyone else is paying a lot of money for. Such as is altogether missing from most other Reef Aquarium books. By no stretch of the imagination is Joyce Wilkerson the last word in reef aquariums, but her teachings will in two weeks bring your skill to a level where you are able to provide amazingly cost effective food for your anemones, coral, clams and feather dusters when you are ready to keep these beautiful animals. All the equipment used and described by Wilkerson is still available today. Please believe me when I say, everything advanced aquarists were able to do in those days you will as a beginner easily be able to do with the teachings of Wilkerson’s book “Clownfish.”
